At least three people were killed and more than a dozen others were injured after a Russian guided-bomb attack struck the southern Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia on Tuesday, according to regional officials.
The attack caused severe damage to a nine-storey residential apartment building, where flames spread across seven floors, the regional military administration said on Telegram. Emergency crews were deployed to control the fire and respond to the incident.
Regional Governor Ivan Fedorov said two of the victims were in their sixties, while the third person killed was 49 years old. Officials also confirmed that more than a dozen people were injured in the attack.

A resident of the damaged apartment building, identified as 38-year-old Tetiana, described the constant danger faced by people living in the city. "The situation in the city is very tense, because in the morning we drive (to work) under Shahed attacks, at lunch time we have guided-bomb attacks, and in the evening we return home under Shahed and guided-bomb attacks."
Video footage from the scene showed one side of the apartment building heavily damaged and blackened by fire. Emergency workers continued efforts to extinguish the blaze while burnt-out vehicles remained parked near the building.
Ukrainian officials said Russia frequently uses guided bombs in attacks on areas located close to the front line. These air-launched weapons are often Soviet-era bombs that have been fitted with wings and navigation systems to improve their accuracy.
Moscow has denied deliberately targeting civilians. However, residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure have been struck repeatedly since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
