Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has reiterated Malaysia's dedication to justice, peace, and human dignity as integral elements of its foreign policy, underlining the nation's historic commitment to principled international engagement.
During a Q&A session at his lecture titled "Power Shifts: Strategic Choices for Malaysia and Turkiye", Anwar expressed Malaysia's readiness to support multilateral initiatives aimed at mitigating global conflicts, particularly through participation in United Nations-led peacekeeping missions.
He emphasized that any involvement would be conducted with a respect for international collaborations and regional leadership, clarifying that Malaysia does not intend to supersede the roles of neighboring nations or primary global stakeholders engaged in conflict resolution.
"We are open to contributing wherever support is needed," Anwar stated, reinforcing that Malaysia's approach is anchored in diplomacy, collaboration, and mutual respect among nations.
The Prime Minister pointed out that Malaysia’s humanitarian efforts are not confined to a single crisis. While recognizing the current conflict in Gaza, he also expressed deep concern for the Rohingya community in Myanmar and vulnerable populations across Southeast Asia, including those in Cambodia and Thailand.
Anwar confirmed that Malaysia would persist in its efforts to facilitate peace and humanitarian initiatives while partnering with regional allies and international organizations to navigate complex challenges.
He reaffirmed that Malaysia's foreign policy is deeply rooted in universal values, with the nation's international posture propelled by a commitment to justice, peace, and the dignity of every individual, irrespective of their geographical or political context.
Anwar stated that this commitment embodies Malaysia's broader responsibility as a global community member, aimed at promoting stability, humanitarian values, and constructive dialogue in a continually interconnected world.
