Post by : Meena Hassan

Dhaka Capitals' assistant coach, Mahbub Ali Zaki, met with a tragic demise on Saturday, just before the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) face-off against Rajshahi Warriors in Sylhet. The 59-year-old coach experienced a sudden collapse during the warm-up, leaving the team and onlookers in disbelief.

Medical reports confirm that Zaki suffered a heart attack while on the field, prompting immediate transport to the hospital. Unfortunately, despite swift medical intervention, he could not be revived. News of his passing reached the stadium post-match commencement, leaving players, officials, and supporters in deep sorrow.

Known for his dedication to Bangladesh cricket, Mahbub Ali Zaki was a revered mentor, especially in the development of fast bowlers. His significant influence in honing cricketing talent earned him admiration from players and colleagues alike.

To honor Zaki, both teams held a minute's silence during the innings break as a tribute. The Dhaka Capitals extended their condolences to his grieving family, recalling him as a dynamic figure whose influence would be missed deeply within the cricketing community.

The sudden loss of Mahbub Ali Zaki marks a poignant moment for the cricket fraternity. His dedication and contributions will forever remain a source of inspiration for future generations in Bangladesh cricket.
