The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH), in collaboration with the Authority of Social Contribution – Ma’an, has announced the opening of applications for the 2026 Abu Dhabi Healthcare Research and Innovation Fund. This program is welcoming submissions from researchers, healthcare professionals, and innovators throughout the emirate.
The focus of the 2026 fund edition is on supporting high-caliber research aimed at advancing precision medicine, enhancing early disease detection, and facilitating data-driven clinical decision-making. Key areas of emphasis include precision medicine and omics diagnostics, cell and gene therapy, cancer diagnostics and treatments, metabolic and cardiovascular disorders, neuroinflammatory and neurodegenerative diseases, mental health and behavioral sciences, reproductive endocrinology and infertility, along with public health initiatives.
Evaluation of proposals will be based on scientific merit, feasibility, collaborative potential, and alignment with Abu Dhabi’s overarching health priorities.
Her Excellency Dr. Noura Khamis Al Ghaithi, Undersecretary of DoH Abu Dhabi, stated, “Through the launch of the 2026 Healthcare Research and Innovation Fund, Abu Dhabi is dedicated to fostering a dynamic and collaborative environment for scientific inquiry. Our goal is to empower research that leads to clinical progress and improves health outcomes for the population.”
His Excellency Abdullah Humaid Al Ameri, Director General of Ma’an, remarked on the importance of this partnership in meeting social and health challenges. “Ma’an is devoted to backing researchers and innovators whose contributions will benefit future generations and enhance community welfare,” he conveyed.
This fund aims to facilitate research projects that show clear translational benefits and substantial clinical impact within Abu Dhabi’s healthcare landscape. It further solidifies the emirate’s status as a prominent global center for life sciences and research excellence.
In the previous funding cycle (2024-2025), the initiative attracted over 150 submissions from healthcare providers, academic institutions, and research organizations, funding twelve significant projects that tackled immunologic disorders, refined diagnostic strategies for Iron Deficiency Anaemia, and innovations in cancer prevention.
Interested parties are encouraged to consult the DoH website to access application guidelines and submit their proposals via the active application portal.
