Global Competitors Ready for Abu Dhabi Judo Grand Slam 2025

The organising committee of the Judo Grand Slam 2025 in Abu Dhabi has announced strong international interest for the prestigious event. A total of 390 athletes from 53 countries have registered, showing the global popularity and competitive level of this championship. The event is set to take place from November 28 to 30 at the Mubadala Arena, under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Ain Region.

The UAE Judo Federation confirmed that the national team is undergoing intensive preparations under the guidance of coach Victor Scvortov. The team has completed several training phases and gained experience by participating in international tournaments, aiming to perform strongly on home ground. The focus is on improving technique, stamina, and strategic match play to compete effectively against top-ranked athletes from around the world.

Ahead of the competition, key pre-event activities are scheduled. The tournament draw, technical meeting, trial and official weigh-ins, and referees’ meeting will take place on Thursday. These formalities ensure that all athletes, officials, and referees are fully prepared for a smooth and fair competition. The lightweight categories will begin the action on Friday, followed by other weight classes over the next two days.

The Judo Grand Slam is one of the most important international competitions in the sport, attracting elite athletes from around the world. Participation in such events helps athletes gain ranking points, experience, and exposure at the highest level. For the UAE team, performing in front of a home crowd is a unique opportunity to showcase talent and inspire the next generation of judokas.

The UAE Judo team has emphasized the importance of focused training. Techniques, match strategy, and mental preparation are key elements being practiced daily. Coach Victor Scvortov is leading sessions to enhance reaction speed, defensive skills, and offensive tactics.
