Abu Dhabi: AD Ports Group has bolstered both local and regional supply chains throughout the Gulf, utilizing its diverse logistics network to guarantee undisturbed trade amid recent challenges.
Since late February, the group has effectively maintained standard operations by quickly setting up alternative trade routes and redirecting cargo via land, rail, sea, and air. Such proactive strategies have lessened the impact of disruptions faced by Arabian Gulf ports, particularly regarding traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.
To this date, AD Ports Group has managed over 54,000 TEUs at Fujairah Terminals and Khor Fakkan Port. Additionally, more than 22,000 containers have been moved through land logistics, while 18,000 TEUs have navigated its maritime networks. These efforts are supported by a fleet of 24 vessels operating eight feeder services. Moreover, over 8,000 tonnes of cargo have been airlifted, facilitated by upwards of 100 chartered flights.
Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Managing Director and Group CEO of AD Ports Group, highlighted that the company’s enduring investments in logistics infrastructure have enabled significant redeployments within the UAE. He reiterated the group’s dedication to ensuring the steady supply of essential items like food, medicines, and strategic commodities, while upholding safety protocols for its workforce.
To facilitate continuous shipping to Khalifa Port and major trade routes, AD Ports Group introduced new feeder shipping services linking the UAE's eastern ports with those in the Arabian Sea and Red Sea. The company has also expanded its fleet and is looking to further boost capacity.
Feeder activities managed by SAFEEN Feeders and Global Feeder Shipping have been redirected through Fujairah and Khor Fakkan, providing alternative entry points to the UAE and broader GCC region. New services now link ports in India, Pakistan, Oman, and the Upper Gulf.
The group has initiated an air bridge with three chartered aircraft to move vital cargo, with aims to further increase capacity. On the ground, a specialized logistics corridor employing 800 trucks and daily Etihad Rail services guarantees efficient cargo transfer among Fujairah, Khor Fakkan, Khalifa Port, Jebel Ali, and Sharjah.
Supporting these initiatives, AD Ports Group has increased its warehousing capacity to beyond 76,000 square metres, with aspirations to more than double this to 188,000 square metres.
Through its cutting-edge digital trade platforms, the group has improved real-time visibility and efficiency in managing trade flows. These systems facilitate optimized cargo routing and the reuse of empty containers, thereby lowering costs and enhancing supply chain efficiency.
In collaboration with UAE authorities and industry stakeholders, AD Ports Group persists in delivering dependable logistics services while fortifying supply chain resilience throughout the region.
