AED 5.7M Boost for Dubai's Neighbourhood Mosques Initiative

Post by : Bianca Haleem

The Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD) in Dubai has announced impressive advancements within its “Neighbourhood Mosques” initiative, showcasing strong community backing and financial contributions surpassing AED 5.7 million during the first quarter of 2026.

This initiative aims to elevate mosque facilities and enrich the worship experience. To this end, over 30 mosques have received new carpet installations, costing more than AED 2 million. Furthermore, support and sponsorship for nearly 35 mosques are valued at over AED 3.7 million per year.

A significant aspect of this project involved covering around 15,500 square meters with high-quality carpets, greatly enhancing comfort and safety for worshippers while boosting operational standards.

This initiative addresses Dubai’s swift urban and demographic changes, ensuring mosques are equipped to serve the community effectively. It also emphasizes mosques’ role as pivotal community points that foster social unity, shared values, and better living standards.

According to Ahmed Darwish Al Muhairi, the Director General of IACAD, the initiative’s expansion highlights an increase in community awareness and responsibility. He acknowledged public contributions as a reflection of the generous spirit prevalent in the UAE, demonstrating a commitment to support and maintain mosques.

He added that this initiative exemplifies a sustainable partnership between the community and IACAD, turning charitable donations into enduring benefits for future generations, thus fortifying mosques as bastions of unity and social stability.

Mohammed Jassim Al Mansoori, Director of the Customer Service Department and overseer of the initiative, remarked that the results illustrate the trust the community has in IACAD’s initiatives. He emphasized that this project transforms community engagement into substantial improvements, enhancing mosque services to meet worshippers' expectations.

In conclusion, the “Neighbourhood Mosques” initiative serves an essential role in advancing Dubai’s vision of a connected, sustainable, and community-centric society.
