Air Force One Returns to Base Due to Minor Electrical Issue

Post by : Bianca Haleem

President Donald Trump’s aircraft, Air Force One, had to turn back to Joint Base Andrews on Tuesday evening after its departure for Switzerland.

According to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, the decision to return was made swiftly when the flight crew noticed a minor electrical issue shortly after takeoff. The aircraft returned safely without incident.

A reporter aboard the plane mentioned that the lights in the press area flickered off briefly post-takeoff, although specific details were not provided at the moment.

Leavitt confirmed President Trump would proceed with his scheduled visit to the World Economic Forum in Davos using another aircraft after reaching the base.

The present Air Force One jets have been operational for nearly 40 years, with Boeing working on new replacements that have experienced several delays.

Last year, Qatar's ruling family presented Trump with a luxurious Boeing 747-8 jet for the Air Force One fleet, an action that received considerable attention. The aircraft is currently being modified to comply with U.S. security requirements.

Leavitt humorously remarked that the Qatari plane seemed “much better” at that moment, during her interaction with journalists on board.
