The Al Buraimi Winter events officially began at Al Sunaynah Public Park in Al Sunaynah, within Al Buraimi Governorate. Organised by the governorate, the event will run until October 24, offering heritage, entertainment and community programmes for visitors of different age groups.
Mohammed bin Khalifa Al-Farsi of the Events and Awareness Department at Al Buraimi Municipality said the event aims to encourage tourism and strengthen social and economic activity in Al Sunaynah. The programme also seeks to showcase Omani heritage by combining traditional arts with recreational activities, giving residents and visitors a place to meet, participate and enjoy local culture.

The programme includes artistic performances, poetry evenings, folk arts and competitions. These activities are designed to celebrate Omani cultural traditions while offering entertainment for different audiences. The event also provides an opportunity for visitors to experience local heritage in a community setting.
A special recreational area has been arranged for children, featuring games, activities and other programmes. The children’s zone is intended to make the event more welcoming for families and provide younger visitors with activities suited to their interests.
The organisers have allocated spaces for productive families to display and market their goods. Small and medium-sized enterprises are also participating through the restaurant corner and related activities. These opportunities can help local businesses reach more visitors and take part in the economic activity generated by the event.
Camel racing is scheduled for Friday morning at the camel racing field in Al Sunaynah. Organised by Al Buraimi Governorate in cooperation with the Omani Camel Racing Federation, the competition will feature the weanling, haqayiq and laqaya categories. According to the report, the race includes 10 rounds, with cash prizes for winners and golden swords and daggers for first-place winners in the rounds designated for symbolic prizes.
The Al Buraimi Winter programme reflects the governorate’s efforts to diversify events across its wilayats and connect tourism with heritage and community activities. By involving local families and small businesses alongside cultural performances and camel racing, the event aims to enrich the visitor experience and broaden local participation in economic activity.
