Global Council Promotes Tolerance and Peace at Lebanon Event

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Jarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, attended an important interfaith gathering in Lebanon. The event brought together Christian and Muslim religious leaders to discuss shared values, promote mutual respect, and work toward building a more peaceful and stable world.

Al Jarwan explained that such gatherings are essential for the Council’s mission of encouraging tolerance and understanding among different religions. He said that meeting under one roof shows a clear message: regardless of faith or belief, true spirituality emphasizes goodness, love, justice, and the protection of human dignity. This gathering is a strong reminder that faith should unite people rather than divide them.

He highlighted Lebanon as a historic example of religious and cultural coexistence. The country’s model of pluralism demonstrates that societies are strongest when people respect each other’s differences and protect their civilizational heritage. Lebanon continues to prove that diverse communities can live together peacefully, which serves as inspiration for countries around the world facing social and religious challenges.

Al Jarwan stressed that the current global environment makes dialogue and bridge-building more important than ever. Peace is not automatic; it requires effort, communication, and the commitment of leaders, communities, and individuals. He emphasized that initiatives promoting understanding between religions can prevent conflicts and strengthen societies.

The Global Council for Tolerance and Peace organizes similar events worldwide, aiming to educate people on the importance of tolerance, cooperation, and dialogue. These events provide platforms where religious and community leaders can share experiences, exchange ideas, and collaborate on initiatives that promote harmony.

During the Lebanon gathering, discussions focused on shared ethical values, the role of religion in fostering compassion, and the ways faith communities can contribute to societal well-being. Al Jarwan noted that respecting diverse traditions and beliefs strengthens social cohesion and supports a global culture of peace.

The President of the Council also mentioned that interfaith initiatives like this encourage youth participation, helping younger generations understand the value of dialogue and respect. By fostering awareness from an early age, societies can reduce misunderstandings and promote a future where differences are celebrated, not feared.

Al Jarwan concluded by saying that tolerance is not just a moral duty but a practical tool for creating safer, stronger, and more inclusive societies. He reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to building bridges, nurturing cooperation between religious communities, and ensuring that peace is actively maintained in local and global contexts.

This gathering in Lebanon is one of many steps the Council is taking to highlight the universal values shared by all religions. Through continuous dialogue, interfaith education, and collaborative initiatives, the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace works to create a world where respect, understanding, and harmony guide human interaction.
