AlUla is set to welcome an exciting equestrian event this Saturday as it prepares for the 2026 World Endurance Championship. The test race will take place in collaboration with the Saudi Arabian Equestrian Federation, marking an important step in showcasing the region’s ability to host global sporting events. A total of 270 riders from 18 different countries are expected to participate, reflecting AlUla’s growing reputation in the international equestrian community.
The main highlight of the day will be the 160 km three-star test race, which is designed to evaluate AlUla’s readiness for the upcoming world championship. The race will be conducted under the supervision of the International Equestrian Federation (FEI). Officials will closely monitor all aspects of the event, including the trails, timing systems, facilities, and arrangements for international judges. This careful preparation ensures that AlUla can meet the high standards expected for a world-class equestrian competition.
Alongside the main test race, the Saudi Arabian Equestrian Federation Endurance Cup will host a 120 km two-star race and a 100 km one-star race. These events aim to engage a wider group of riders while providing them with the chance to compete in challenging courses across AlUla’s scenic landscapes. By offering races of different levels, organizers are ensuring that both professional and emerging riders can showcase their skills in a safe and well-managed environment.
The event is organized by the Royal Commission for AlUla in partnership with the Saudi Arabian Equestrian Federation. Together, these organizations are working to position AlUla as a premier destination for international endurance events. Officials have focused on upgrading facilities, ensuring reliable support systems, and providing a high-quality experience for all participants. This collaboration demonstrates Saudi Arabia’s commitment to promoting sports tourism and international sporting events in the region.
The test race is more than just a competition; it serves as a full-scale trial to ensure everything is ready for the 2026 World Endurance Championship. From the technical aspects of race management to the comfort and safety of riders and horses, every detail is being checked. Organizers are confident that these preparations will demonstrate AlUla’s ability to host a world-class championship, attracting attention from the global equestrian community.
With 270 riders from across the world, the event promises to be a vibrant showcase of endurance, skill, and dedication. Participants and spectators alike will get a chance to experience AlUla’s breathtaking landscapes while witnessing top-level equestrian competition. This test race highlights Saudi Arabia’s growing role in international sports and reinforces AlUla as a key hub for equestrian excellence.
