Ikkis Release Postponed to January 1, 2026, Says Amitabh Bachchan

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

Sriram Raghavan’s upcoming war film Ikkis, featuring Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda, will now release on January 1, 2026. The film was initially scheduled for December 25 but has been postponed. Amitabh Bachchan shared the update on X, explaining that “some astrologers” suggested the new date would be more auspicious, indicating the decision was based on jyotish vidya rather than box-office competition.

The movie is produced by Maddock Films, who released a new poster featuring Agastya Nanda. Ikkis tells the story of courage and sacrifice, focusing on Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, India’s youngest Param Vir Chakra awardee. The film also stars Dharmendra and Jaideep Ahlawat in key roles.

For Agastya Nanda, this marks his first theatrical debut, after making his acting debut with The Archies (2023) on Netflix. The film is also notable as Dharmendra’s last movie, making it a special milestone for the veteran actor.

The final trailer for Ikkis is expected to be released in theatres soon, giving audiences a glimpse of the intense story and performances. The makers hope the New Year release will bring a strong start for the film.

Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar continues its strong box-office performance, having earned reportedly ₹460 crore net in India. With Ikkis now releasing in January, it avoids a clash and opens the year with a clear runway.

Fans of Agastya Nanda and war film enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting Ikkis, as the movie promises a blend of history, bravery, and cinematic storytelling, marking a significant start to 2026.
