Bahrain has taken another significant step toward expanding housing opportunities for its citizens with the launch of a new residential development project in Salman City. The project, which includes the construction of 44 modern housing units, was officially inaugurated by Minister of Housing and Urban Planning Amna bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi during a ceremony marking the start of foundation works.
The minister said the project reflects the continued success of Bahrain’s Government Land Development Rights Programme, an initiative designed to accelerate the delivery of housing services through cooperation with private sector developers. She noted that the programme supports the national goal of providing 50,000 housing units for citizens in line with the directives of the country's leadership.
According to the Housing Ministry, the newly launched development forms part of a broader plan to deliver 137 housing units in Salman City through strategic partnerships with private companies. The initiative aims to increase housing availability and provide beneficiaries with a wider range of residential options that meet different family needs.
Al Rumaihi emphasized that collaboration between the public and private sectors has become a key driver of Bahrain’s housing strategy. By leveraging the expertise and capabilities of private developers, the government can deliver high-quality housing projects more efficiently while maintaining approved technical and engineering standards.
The minister highlighted the achievements of previous projects completed under the programme, including Suhail in Al Lawzi, Al Naseem District in Salman City, Al Wadi in Al Bahair and Danat Sanad. These developments have witnessed strong demand from citizens and demonstrated the effectiveness of the partnership model.
Omar Faisal Al Temiemy, Chief Executive Officer of Bahrain First Real Estate Development Company, expressed pride in participating in the project and described the collaboration as a successful example of public-private integration. He affirmed the company’s commitment to completing the development according to the approved schedule and the highest quality standards.
Once completed, the project will offer modern housing units designed to meet the requirements of Bahraini families. The homes will be available through financing programmes developed in cooperation with participating banks, supporting national efforts to expand access to affordable and high-quality housing across the Kingdom.
