A flight bound for Dubai from Madurai was diverted on Sunday morning after the crew detected a technical issue shortly after takeoff. The pilot opted to reroute the aircraft and carried out procedures to secure the safety of passengers and crew.
Aviation sources said the problem was assessed as a minor technical fault and the diversion was a precautionary decision. Airport officials confirmed a safe landing with no injuries, and passengers were disembarked in an orderly manner while ground engineers inspected the aircraft.
The unscheduled diversion caused brief delays at Madurai Airport before normal operations resumed. The airline arranged a replacement aircraft to continue the journey to Dubai after thorough safety checks were completed.
Passengers commended the captain and cabin crew for clear communication and calm management during the incident. “The crew kept us informed and reassured throughout,” one traveller commented.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has been notified and a technical probe has been launched to establish the cause of the fault.
The episode underscores the value of routine maintenance and the robustness of India’s aviation safety protocols in handling in-flight technical issues.
