His Highness Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Vice President of the General Sports Authority (GSA) and President of the Bahrain Combat Sports Council, extended heartfelt congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, on Bahrain’s major success at the Braga Open Boxing Tournament.

The national boxing team secured a total of eight medals during the international competition — three gold, three silver, and two bronze — marking a proud moment for Bahraini sports.

Leadership's Support Behind the Success

HH Shaikh Salman also congratulated His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of HM the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), as well as His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of SCYS, President of the GSA, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), for this sporting milestone.

He emphasized that this success reflects the ongoing support and guidance of the leadership, especially from HM the King and HRH the Crown Prince. Their encouragement continues to strengthen Bahrain’s sports infrastructure and uplift athletes across all disciplines.

A Result of Vision and Planning

According to HH Shaikh Salman, this achievement did not happen overnight. It was the result of long-term efforts, well-planned strategies, and the creation of a supportive environment that allowed Bahraini athletes to grow, especially in combat sports.

He praised the commitment shown by Shaikh Nasser and Shaikh Khalid, who have worked to improve athlete training conditions, provide international exposure, and raise overall performance standards.

Commending the Team and Management

Shaikh Salman personally congratulated each member of the national boxing team for their excellent performance at the international level. He also gave special recognition to the technical and administrative staff who helped prepare the athletes for the tournament.

Their combined hard work, according to His Highness, helped the team to perform confidently against strong global competitors, bringing home medals and national pride.

Appreciation for the Bahrain Boxing Federation

HH Shaikh Salman extended appreciation to the Bahrain Boxing Federation, under the leadership of Rashid Isa Flaifel, for its role in organizing effective training and preparation. He noted the Federation’s attention to detail and commitment to preparing a strong team for this important competition.

Flaifel’s Message of Pride

He said that the team’s performance in the Braga Open was proof of their focus, discipline, and strong mental preparation. Competing against top-tier international opponents, the boxers showed resilience and commitment.

Flaifel highlighted that these results serve as a major motivation to continue developing the sport of boxing in Bahrain, with hopes of achieving even greater success in future global tournaments.
