In a dramatic incident on Friday morning, a landslide occurred in the Hanjia subdistrict of Pengshui in Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality, leading to the rescue of eight individuals. Prior to the landslide, which caused multiple homes to cave in, more than 60 residents had already been evacuated as per CCTV News reports.
This natural disaster struck at precisely 9:08 am, as substantial amounts of mud and rock cascaded down the hillside, resulting in significant destruction.
A preliminary investigation revealed that local community members had spotted falling rocks around 8:00 am. Aware of the looming threat, they promptly issued alerts and contacted local authorities.

Emergency protocols were enacted swiftly, allowing for the evacuation of over 60 individuals from the danger zone right before the landslide struck, as reported by the authorities.
While many were safely evacuated, some residents found themselves beneath the rubble when the landslide occurred. The exact number of individuals possibly trapped remains undetermined.
Emergency crews worked tirelessly after the disaster. By 11:38 am, they had successfully retrieved eight individuals from the site.
According to broadcasts from CCTV News, the rescued individuals have been transported to a medical facility for evaluation and treatment. Fortunately, none of them are reported to be in critical condition.
The operation continues, with search and rescue teams actively scouring the area for any additional individuals who might still be trapped.
Following directives from the Ministry of Emergency Management, the China Anneng Chongqing rescue unit has dispatched 100 team members along with 50 specialized tools for crucial rescue operations and evaluations.
Authorities are diligently monitoring the situation as rescue teams concentrate on discovering any potential victims.
