The Dallas Cowboys earned an exciting 31-28 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday night in Arlington, Texas. With this win, the Cowboys extended their strong run, marking their third straight victory of the season. Quarterback Dak Prescott played a major role in the success, throwing for 320 yards and two touchdowns in a high-energy game filled with fast scoring and tight defensive moments.
Prescott had an impressive performance, completing 27 of his 39 passes. This game also highlighted a strong matchup between two powerhouse quarterbacks—Prescott and Patrick Mahomes—who lead two of the NFL's top offenses. The win comes just days after the Cowboys defeated the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, showing how quickly the team is gaining momentum.
On the other side, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes delivered a strong performance of his own, completing 23 of his 34 passes for 261 yards and four touchdowns. He did not throw a single interception, and two of his scoring passes went to rising star Rashee Rice. Despite Mahomes' efforts, the Chiefs dropped to a 6-6 record for the season.
The Cowboys took a 17-14 lead into halftime. Brandon Aubrey added to the score early in the third quarter by kicking a 36-yard field goal, giving the Cowboys a 20-14 advantage. The Chiefs came back early in the fourth quarter when Mahomes connected with Rice on a short three-yard touchdown pass. That score put Kansas City ahead 21-20, marking their first points since the opening quarter.
The Cowboys answered quickly as Prescott threw a three-yard touchdown pass to Javonte Williams. He then completed a two-point conversion to George Pickens, pushing Dallas ahead 28-21 with just over 11 minutes left in the game. Aubrey later struck again with a 26-yard field goal, widening the Cowboys’ lead to 31-21.
Kansas City tightened the game in the final minutes. Mahomes connected with Hollywood Brown for a ten-yard touchdown, cutting Dallas’ lead to 31-28 with 3:27 remaining. However, the Chiefs never got another chance with the ball, as the Cowboys held possession and controlled the clock to end the game.
The game started with early drama. Prescott threw an interception on just the third play, and Chiefs defender Jaylen Watson returned it deep into Dallas territory. Mahomes quickly took advantage, connecting with Rashee Rice on a 27-yard touchdown. But Prescott responded strongly, leading a 12-play drive that ended with a 15-yard touchdown pass to CeeDee Lamb, who recorded seven catches for 112 yards.
Kansas City regained the lead when Mahomes found Travis Kelce for a short touchdown. Dallas cut that lead with a 49-yard field goal from Aubrey, and momentum shifted again when the Cowboys produced an 85-yard drive. Running back Malik Davis finished the drive with an exciting 43-yard touchdown run, sending Dallas into halftime with the advantage.
The Cowboys’ consistent pressure, smart playmaking, and strong connection between Prescott and his receivers helped them stay ahead in the second half. Meanwhile, Mahomes and the Chiefs fought hard but were unable to retake the lead in the final minutes.
With this win, the Cowboys improved to 6-5-1 and continue climbing in the standings. Their next challenge will be facing SC Telstar in the upcoming league match. The Chiefs, now at 6-6, will look to bounce back and regain rhythm as they push toward the playoffs.
