16 New Parks Launch in Al Shamkhah to Enhance Community Life

Post by : Bianca Haleem

The Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) has officially opened 16 public parks in the Al Shamkhah area of Abu Dhabi City, representing a significant initiative to improve urban livability and foster stronger community ties.

These new parks are designed as inclusive recreational centers, showcasing DMT’s commitment to creating accessible and well-equipped public spaces for residents of every age. With vast green landscapes, eight fitness zones, 25 sports courts, and 26 playgrounds that accommodate various abilities, these parks cater to diverse needs. Additional features such as walking paths, shaded seating, and open spaces promote outdoor activities and community interaction.

Eng Khalifa Abdulla Alqemzi, Head of Capital Projects Execution – Abu Dhabi at DMT, emphasized that the parks were meticulously designed to enhance the daily lives of local residents. He mentioned that these facilities aim to provide safe and welcoming spaces for families, friends, and neighbors to gather. Aligned with the Year of Community, the parks seek to fortify social connections, encourage active lifestyles, and cultivate a strong sense of belonging among community members.

The parks in Al Shamkhah are part of a larger initiative to create community spaces throughout the capital this year, which includes similar projects in the Al Falah district and Mohamed bin Zayed City. This aligns with DMT’s broader strategy to create integrated neighborhoods that support health, well-being, and social unity.

By increasing access to high-quality public areas, DMT continues to advance Abu Dhabi’s vision of developing people-centered urban environments that enhance life quality and promote sustainable community living across the emirate.
