Dubai Municipality Enhances Engineering Standards Through Partnership

Post by : Bianca Haleem

Dubai Municipality has entered into a Memorandum of Cooperation with the UAE Society of Engineers aimed at fortifying the engineering landscape in Dubai and aligning it with international benchmarks.

This collaboration concentrates on developing frameworks to assess, classify, license, and validate engineering professionals. The goal is to boost efficiency, preparedness, and innovation while supporting Dubai's aspiration to host international engineering and architectural gatherings.

According to the terms of the agreement, both organizations will carry out the professional evaluations needed for obtaining engineering practice licenses in Dubai. The assessments will occur at the facilities of the Society of Engineers, using globally recognized standards. This partnership also encompasses the creation of a classification system tied to technical examination outcomes.

Key initiatives covered by the memorandum include:

  • Hosting international engineering and architectural events

  • Launching diverse training programs in multiple engineering fields

  • Facilitating technical workshops and discussion forums

  • Developing digital platforms for knowledge exchange, research, and sharing best practices

The initiative also encourages innovation among youth by supporting emerging engineering ventures and organizing field tours for engineers, students, and personnel from both organizations to foster knowledge sharing.

H.E. Eng. Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Municipality, commented:
“Our partnership with the Society of Engineers fortifies systems for the evaluation and classification of engineers, enhances skill development, and promotes research and innovation in construction and sustainability. This ensures Dubai's continued status as a global cornerstone for urban planning and construction excellence.”

H.E. Abdullah Yousuf Al Ali, President of the Board of Directors, Society of Engineers – UAE, remarked:
“This strategic collaboration equips engineers to advance their skills, fosters innovation in construction and sustainability, and deepens the ties between the Society and Dubai Municipality to elevate professional standards and infrastructure development. It also aids in organizing specialized training initiatives and workshops, bolstering the UAE’s position as a center for engineering and architectural distinction.”

This initiative is part of Dubai Municipality’s ongoing commitment to improve the engineering sector by raising professional standards, leadership, efficiency, and innovation, further asserting Dubai’s role as a global leader in engineering innovation and quality urban development.
