Authorities in Dubai have flagged red-light violations as a leading cause of road accidents, revealing alarming statistics from the year 2026.
Dubai Police disclosed that since the start of the year, violations of red traffic signals have led to 41 accidents throughout the emirate. Tragically, these incidents included four fatalities and 55 injuries, emphasizing the serious outcomes of disregarding traffic signals.
The police highlighted the severe risk posed by failing to halt at red lights, affecting not just drivers but also passengers and pedestrians. The disclosed statistics from the police reinforces the necessity of adhering to traffic regulations to avert preventable road mishaps.
Motorists are urged to maintain vigilance while driving and to respect traffic signals at all times. Authorities reiterated that the safety of roads heavily relies on the accountability of every driver in obeying traffic laws.
In a safety campaign message, Dubai Police stated: "Your safety begins with your commitment," urging all drivers to comply with traffic signals to foster safer road conditions in the emirate.
