The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has commenced a thorough inspection initiative to prepare air-conditioned bus shelters and waiting areas for the upcoming summer in 2026.
This initiative covers 895 air-conditioned bus shelters positioned across 621 locations throughout Dubai, focusing on ensuring operational efficiency and a comfortable experience for passengers during high-temperature months.
Abdulrahman Al Janahi, Director of Buildings & Facilities at RTA Dubai, emphasized the authority's dedication to keeping vital public service facilities associated with transportation in optimal condition. The inspection includes comprehensive checks and preventive maintenance to ensure that all bus shelters are fully ready for Summer 2026.
Regular site inspections are integrated into RTA's operational strategy, with assessment teams monitoring facilities consistently to identify any technical issues and implement immediate corrective actions. The campaign also involves enhancements aimed at boosting shelter performance and operational effectiveness.
Furthermore, RTA is spearheading public awareness campaigns on social media and has set up informative posters in bus shelters. These initiatives encourage commuters to maintain cleanliness and take care of community assets.
Passengers can also utilize RTA’s official channels, such as the “Madinati” feature on its mobile app, to report any concerns or issues regarding bus shelters. Specialized teams are tasked with managing these reports to ensure prompt responses and enhance customer satisfaction.
The air-conditioned bus shelters are thoughtfully designed with environmentally friendly materials resilient to extreme weather, including heat and wind. They boast modern aesthetics and expansive advertising areas, playing a pivotal role in Dubai’s sustainable urban infrastructure.
Adhering to the Dubai Universal Design Code, these shelters ensure accessibility for all, featuring facilities like wheelchair spaces and digital display boards that provide real-time information on the bus network.
This initiative signifies RTA’s commitment to elevating public transport services, ensuring that all commuters experience enhanced comfort, safety, and efficiency across Dubai.
