The UAE’s EDGE Group and Spain’s EM&E Group have signed an agreement to explore the creation of a UAE-based joint venture backed by a commercial pipeline worth approximately $1.5 billion.
The signing ceremony took place at EM&E Group’s headquarters in Spain and was attended by the UAE Ambassador to Spain, Saleh Ahmad Salem Alzaraim Alsuwaidi. The agreement was signed by Hamad Al Marar, Managing Director and CEO of EDGE Group, and Fernando Fernández, CEO of EM&E Group.
Under the agreement, EM&E Group will provide its latest advanced remote weapon station technologies to the UAE and other global markets. The companies also plan to expand their cooperation into the co-development of additional defence systems through the proposed joint venture in the UAE.
The new company is expected to build a skilled workforce in the UAE, covering areas such as sales, engineering, and programme management. This move will create high-value job opportunities in advanced defence technologies and support the co-development and adaptation of future defence systems.
Hamad Al Marar said the partnership will strengthen EDGE’s position in key markets and speed up its capabilities in advanced weapon systems. He highlighted that combining European defence expertise with EDGE’s wide range of air, land, and maritime platforms will provide a strong competitive advantage to customers.
He added that the agreement sets a clear path for deeper industrial cooperation with Spain’s defence sector and supports the UAE’s goal of becoming a hub for next-generation defence technology.
Fernando Fernández described the alliance as a major milestone in EM&E Group’s international expansion. He said the collaboration recognises the advanced engineering developed in Spain and will enhance export capabilities while supporting the development of innovative defence solutions.
The partnership and the planned joint venture mark an important step in strengthening industrial cooperation between the UAE and Spain. By combining EM&E’s engineering expertise with EDGE’s defence ecosystem, both companies aim to drive technological growth, create specialised jobs, and expand their presence in global defence markets.
