Dubai's Education Endowments Surge to AED718 million

Post by : Bianca Haleem

Dubai: The Endowment and Minors’ Trust Foundation (Awqaf Dubai) has revealed an impressive growth in its educational endowments, with total assets skyrocketing to AED 718 million in 2026, a notable 52% increase year-on-year.

This increase comes from 52 dedicated endowments aimed at bolstering the education sector and assisting students from less affluent backgrounds.

Among the assets, 24 endowments consisting of real estate valued at AED 663 million include various properties such as buildings, villas, and retail outlets. The remaining 28 financial endowments, approximately worth AED 55 million, encompass investments spanning bonds and stocks.

According to Awqaf Dubai, the income generated from these assets is allocated toward providing educational opportunities, scholarships, and necessary school materials, in partnership with 45 educational institutions.

In the year 2025, around 3,100 students enrolled in public higher education institutions, both domestically and internationally, benefitted from these contributions. The scholarships disbursed reached about AED 5.9 million.

Ali Al Mutawa, Secretary-General of Awqaf Dubai, emphasized the vital role of educational endowments in empowering disadvantaged students. He remarked that these initiatives enable students to achieve their academic aspirations and pave the way for prosperous futures.

Al Mutawa also noted that the 52% uptick highlights the foundation’s dedication to expanding its support system and ensuring the durability of its educational contributions.

In his remarks, he acknowledged the essential role of donors and philanthropists, affirming that investing in education directly influences the UAE’s future, fostering a more progressive and sustainable society.
