Egyptian FM Holds Talks with US on Strategic Partnership

WASHINGTON, February 20, 2026 — Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Arab Republic of Egypt, held an important diplomatic meeting with his United States counterpart Marco Rubio and the US Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff in Washington.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the first session of the Board of Peace, providing an opportunity for senior officials from both countries to engage in high-level discussions. The talks focused on strengthening bilateral relations and further enhancing the long-standing strategic partnership between Egypt and the United States, which has played a key role in regional diplomacy for decades.

According to a statement issued by Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the discussions covered a wide range of political, diplomatic, and security-related issues. Both sides emphasized the importance of continued cooperation in areas such as regional stability, conflict resolution, and joint efforts to address ongoing challenges in the Middle East.

The officials also exchanged views on recent regional developments, highlighting the need for close coordination and dialogue to manage evolving situations in the region. They stressed that cooperation between Cairo and Washington remains essential for promoting peace, security, and economic stability across the Middle East.

The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of Egypt and the United States to maintain strong communication channels and deepen mutual understanding. Both sides agreed that sustained dialogue and strategic coordination are vital for advancing common goals and supporting long-term regional stability.
