Dubai — Emirates concluded a remarkable week at the Dubai Airshow, captivating aviation aficionados and industry professionals with its grandest showcase of Airbus A380, A350, and Boeing 777 models. Over 82,000 attendees explored the airline’s fleet, with more than 15,000 experiencing Starlink’s high-speed Wi-Fi on a Boeing 777, underscoring Emirates’ commitment to enhanced in-flight connectivity.
Fleet Expansion and Future Commitments
The airline revealed a major boost to its wide-body fleet, confirming orders for 65 Boeing 777-9s and 8 Airbus A350-900s, totaling an impressive $41.4 billion. This addition elevates Emirates’ confirmed orders to 375, with deliveries anticipated through 2038, solidifying its future growth strategy.
Advanced Cabins and Enhanced Connectivity
Emirates outlined plans to retro-fit 111 aircraft with cutting-edge cabin innovations and immersive entertainment options, while Starlink Wi-Fi will grace 232 planes over the upcoming two years. Attendees witnessed firsthand the benefits of this high-speed connectivity, showcasing Emirates’ dedication to improving air travel experience.
Global Partnerships Reinforcement
The airline strengthened its partnership with South African Airways and prolonged agreements with Air Canada until 2032, enhancing cooperation across loyalty programs and operational synergy. Emirates continues its collaborative bond with flydubai, highlighting a growing international network.
Commitment to Sustainable Aviation
Reflecting Dubai’s sustainability ambitions, Emirates signed an MoU with ENOC exploring sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). Collaborations with Thales are set to optimize flight arrival sequences at DXB, boosting airspace efficiency, while the partnership with OpenAI integrates ChatGPT Enterprise for better organizational training.
Innovations in Cargo and Aerospace Manufacturing
Emirates SkyCargo, in collaboration with LODD Autonomous, aims to innovate with hybrid unmanned cargo planes. The airline also secured multiple MoUs to advance Dubai’s aerospace sector:
Safran Seats: Launching Dubai's first aircraft seat manufacturing unit for retrofits and future production installations.
CCE Group: Jointly developing next-generation cabin and cargo solutions.
Rolls-Royce: Establishing MRO for Trent 900 engines on Emirates’ A380 fleet beginning in 2027, extending TotalCare support into the 2040s.
Emirates Engineering proudly achieved the UAE’s inaugural Design Organisation Approval (DOA) from the GCAA, facilitating local certification for significant aircraft modifications and enhancing local aerospace expertise.
Awards and Recognitions
The airline's accomplishments were honored throughout the week, achieving the title of ‘Best Airline in the World’ for the eighth consecutive year at the ULTRAs travel awards, along with accolades for Airline of the Year and Best First Class at the Aviation Business Middle East Awards 2025.
