Emirates Executes Over 40 Autism Travel Trials for Safer Journeys

Post by : Bianca Haleem

Emirates is reinforcing its dedication to inclusive travel with the successful completion of over 40 specialized Travel Trials globally for children and young adults on the autism spectrum. This initiative has benefitted more than 250 families, helping to alleviate travel-related stress and instilling greater confidence in their flying experiences.

The Travel Trial program by Emirates allows attendees to navigate the entire airport journey, which includes check-in, security checks, boarding, and other essential travel elements. By providing this hands-on experience, families and children familiarize themselves with the airport atmosphere prior to their actual flight.

Following favorable responses from initial trials in Dubai, the Emirates Office of Accessibility & Inclusion has officially launched this program for global implementation. Since April 2025, these sessions have taken place in significant international airports in cities like Dubai, Toronto, London, Paris, Delhi, Barcelona, Istanbul, Milan, Brussels, Cairo, Sydney, and many more across six continents.

In support of this program, Emirates has trained over 35,000 employees to assist travelers with autism. These prepared teams collaborate closely with airport authorities and partners to ensure that every rehearsal is a secure, supportive, and comfortable experience for all involved families.

Sami Aqil Abdullah, Senior Vice President of Emirates Airport Services Outstation & Business Support, emphasized the fruitful cooperation among all parties. He commended the trust placed by parents and educators, stating that Emirates plans to further enhance the initiative to reach more regions and families.
