UAE Launches Global Women, Peace & Security Training

Post by : Bianca Haleem

Abu Dhabi, UAE – The UAE has launched the fifth edition of the Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Women, Peace and Security Initiative, bringing together women leaders from 18 countries to strengthen their capacities in peacebuilding, security, and leadership. The programme, under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Mother of the Nation, reflects the UAE’s ongoing commitment to gender equality and women’s advancement in national and global arenas.

Participants from nations including Egypt, Kenya, Angola, Yemen, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Paraguay, and others will undergo a rigorous nine-week programme at the Khawla bint Al Azwar Military School for Women in Abu Dhabi. The training combines seven weeks of intensive military instruction with two weeks dedicated to peacebuilding and peacekeeping, alongside modules in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, diplomacy, international decision-making, and foreign policy.

This unique blend of practical military experience and strategic leadership education is designed to equip women with the tools to assume pivotal roles in advancing peace, security, and sustainable development in their home countries and regions.

The initiative aligns with the 25th anniversary of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security, underscoring the UAE’s long-standing leadership in promoting women’s participation in conflict prevention and peace processes. Since its inception in 2019, over 600 women have graduated from the programme, making it a globally recognized platform for capacity building and leadership development.

By integrating advanced training and real-world applications, the UAE continues to set an example in empowering women to drive stability, foster diplomacy, and contribute meaningfully to national and international security agendas.
