Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Judo to Showcase 14 Exciting Matches

Abu Dhabi is preparing for an exhilarating weekend as the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Judo Tournament announces 14 events for both men and women, set for 28th to 30th November. Organized by the UAE Judo Federation, with backing from local sports organizations, this championship is under the aegis of the International Judo Federation, ensuring top-notch competition and crucial Olympic ranking points.

Over three days, the Mubadala Arena will feature morning elimination rounds on a trio of mats, leading up to the evening finals that will commence daily at 5:00 pm on a central mat. A total of 56 medals—14 gold, 14 silver, and 28 bronze—will be awarded, underscoring the competitive nature of this significant event.

The men’s contests will compete across seven key weight categories: –60 kg, 66 kg, 73 kg, 81 kg, 90 kg, 100 kg, and +100 kg. Similarly, the women will compete in –48 kg, 52 kg, 57 kg, 63 kg, 70 kg, 78 kg, and +78 kg classes, featuring elite athletes from around the globe.

The official draw is set for Thursday at 2:00 pm via video call, gathering internationally ranked judokas along with the UAE national team as the final matchups unfold. With €154,000 in prize money on the line and Olympic qualification points at stake, the tournament promises three days of fierce rivalry and remarkable displays in Abu Dhabi.
