Stabbing Incident Claims Life in Mount Royal Park, Montreal

In a tragic incident in Mount Royal Park, a 30-year-old man lost his life after a stabbing, marking another case of violence in Montreal. The attack occurred on Sunday evening at the corner of Parc Avenue and Côte-Ste-Catherine Road, as confirmed by local police.

Authorities indicated that a 911 call was received around 5:10 p.m., reporting a disturbance involving multiple individuals in the park. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim with severe upper-body wounds.

Paramedics promptly transported the injured man to a nearby hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. Despite the medical team's efforts, police confirmed on Monday morning that the victim succumbed to his injuries.

Shortly after the incident, nearby, a 58-year-old suspect was apprehended. Law enforcement stated that he has been taken into custody and is currently at a detention center. Investigators are actively interrogating him to clarify his involvement in the stabbing.

Detailed circumstances surrounding the altercation have yet to be revealed. Investigators are diligently collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses as part of the ongoing inquiry.

This incident is now recorded as the eighth homicide of 2026 in Montreal, sparking concerns regarding community safety. Officials encourage anyone with further information to come forward to aid in the investigation.
