On the morning of June 3, a devastating road accident struck in Serian, Sarawak, leading to the untimely deaths of five family members, including a two-year-old girl. The tragedy unfolded along Jalan Baki Lama Ensengei when their vehicle allegedly lost control and crashed into a water pipe, resulting in catastrophic outcomes.

Emergency services from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department responded promptly after a distress call was made around 8:41 a.m. Firefighters from the Serian station arrived quickly to find a heavily damaged vehicle at the accident site. They immediately commenced efforts to rescue the victims trapped within the wreckage.

Reports indicate that the victims included a man, three women aged from 16 to 47, alongside the two-year-old girl. Rescue teams focused on extracting the four adult occupants from the car. Amidst the rescue efforts, passersby found the young child nearby, believed to have been ejected from the vehicle upon impact due to the force of the collision.

Medical teams from the Ministry of Health assessed the victims, but tragically, all five family members were declared deceased at the scene before any could be transported for medical assistance. This accident has sent shockwaves through the local community, emphasizing the severe dangers associated with impactful road collisions.

Post-recovery, the victims’ bodies were transferred to the police for further investigation. The rescue operation was declared under control by 9:20 a.m. and concluded by 9:51 a.m., having carried out all necessary tasks at the incident location.

Authorities are currently striving to uncover the precise cause of the crash. A thorough investigation is anticipated before the release of final findings.

This tragic incident is a poignant reminder of the critical nature of road safety and vehicle upkeep.
