Sara Mohammad Falaknaz, a member of the Federal National Council (FNC), had a productive meeting with Lina Gálvez, the Chair of the Women’s Rights and Gender Equality Committee at the European Parliament, aimed at bolstering collaboration between the FNC and the EU Parliament.
This encounter occurred during the FNC delegation's visit to the EU Parliament's headquarters in Strasbourg, France. Key topics of discussion included the empowerment of women, increasing female participation in decision-making, and their contributions to peace and security initiatives. Additionally, they highlighted the significance of multilateral cooperation and tackling hate speech and discrimination.
Sara Falaknaz emphasized the UAE’s notable achievements in empowering women, showcasing their essential role as vital participants in the nation’s progression and decision-making processes, fully supported by leadership since the establishment of the Union.
She also discussed the UAE's peaceful nuclear energy program, affirming that the nation’s nuclear facilities comply with high international safety and transparency standards, in collaboration with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). This demonstrates the UAE’s dedication to the peaceful utilization of nuclear power.
In response, Lina Gálvez lauded the UAE’s initiatives towards women’s empowerment, particularly its advances in achieving balanced parliamentary representation. She noted that numerous European nations still encounter challenges in enhancing women's decision-making roles.
Both parties concluded the meeting expressing a mutual desire to further reinforce collaboration between the FNC and the EU Parliament, particularly in the realms of women’s empowerment and inclusive governance.
