His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, celebrated the six recipients of the Great Arab Minds 2025 awards at Dubai’s Museum of the Future.

The Great Arab Minds initiative serves as a prominent platform that acknowledges remarkable Arab accomplishments. It aims to highlight achievements that promote science, knowledge, culture, innovation, and societal advancement, showcasing Arab talent on both regional and global stages.

Sheikh Mohammed emphasized that the initiative is designed to nurture both seasoned and budding Arab talents, supporting their potentials and recognizing excellence in various fields such as technology, research, medicine, and economics. He pointed out that the program strives to elevate pride in Arab accomplishments and inspire ongoing advancement.

“Today, we celebrate Great Arab Minds whose work contributes to societal evolution,” Sheikh Mohammed remarked. “From the Museum of the Future, we reinforce our commitment to Arab talent dedicated to excellence, innovation, and creativity.”

2025 Winners Overview

He congratulated the six honorees, urging them to inspire future generations:

  • Engineering and Technology: Professor Abbas El Gamal

  • Medicine: Dr. Nabil Seidah

  • Economics: Professor Badi Hani

  • Natural Sciences: Professor Majed Chergui

  • Architecture and Design: Dr. Suad Amiry

  • Literature and Arts: Professor Charbel Dagher

He underscored the belief in Arab talents leading future advancements in scientific inquiry and cultural development, backed by proactive institutions and ambitious youth across the region.

Sheikh Mohammed affirmed that the Great Arab Minds initiative will persist in recognizing those who envision a bright future and chase limitless aspirations.

The event saw the presence of various esteemed UAE leaders, including Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed, Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed, Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed, and Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed, alongside ministers, officials, scientists, and academics.

His Excellency Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and head of the Higher Committee, noted that Great Arab Minds symbolizes strategic investment in Arab intellectual growth. He remarked that the initiative reflects Sheikh Mohammed’s vision to inspire confidence in Arab capacities and promote active participation in shaping tomorrow.

“This platform sends a strong message to countless young Arabs to strive for excellence in research and innovation,” Al Gergawi stated.

  • Medicine: Dr. Nabil Seidah was awarded for significant contributions to cardiovascular health and cholesterol research.

  • Economics: Professor Badi Hani was recognized for groundbreaking work in econometrics and panel data analysis.

  • Engineering and Technology: Professor Abbas El Gamal received the accolade for major advancements in network information theory.

  • Natural Sciences: Professor Majed Chergui was honored for research in light-matter interactions and ultrafast molecular dynamics.

  • Architecture and Design: Dr. Suad Amiry was acknowledged for her efforts in preserving Palestinian architectural heritage.

  • Literature and Arts: Professor Charbel Dagher was celebrated for his influential contributions to Arab and Islamic arts.

The awardees expressed their gratitude, viewing this honor as a significant acknowledgment of their contributions and a motivator to further enhance science, culture, and knowledge in the Arab domain.

Selection Details

The winners were selected by six specialized committees of top ministers, academics, and global experts. Nominations were reviewed by a separate committee.

Often referred to as the “Arab Nobel,” the Great Arab Minds initiative continues to reinforce its stature as a preeminent platform celebrating Arab excellence for the third consecutive year.
