India Achieves Record Test Win Over Afghanistan

Post by : Shakul

India showcased a commanding performance, defeating Afghanistan by an innings and 300 runs in the one-off Test at New Chandigarh, securing their largest victory by innings in Test history. The match concluded on the third day as India's bowlers completely outperformed the Afghan batting lineup.

The highlight of the match was debutant left-arm spinner Manav Suthar, who made a stellar impact during his first Test outing. Suthar took six wickets in Afghanistan’s first innings and one more in the second, concluding with an impressive match tally of 7 for 62. His powerful bowling display was pivotal in steering India to a dominant win.

Earlier, India had declared their first innings at a formidable total of 564 for 8, showcasing robust batting performance across the board. In response, Afghanistan faltered, being bowled out for merely 152 in their first innings, granting India a significant lead of 412 runs and compelling the visitors to follow on.

Afghanistan’s Rahmat Shah emerged as the lone fighter, scoring a hard-fought half-century. His 60 runs represented the first Test fifty by an Afghan player against India, though he received scant support as wickets fell steadily.

In their second innings, Afghanistan started with optimism through an opening partnership led by Sediqullah Atal. However, India’s spin attack swiftly regained dominance. Washington Sundar and Kuldeep Yadav annihilated the middle and lower order, collectively taking seven wickets and quashing any chances of a comeback.

Washington Sundar ended with four wickets while Kuldeep Yadav claimed three vital dismissals. Afghanistan collapsed from a promising position, all out for just 112 runs, exemplifying India's sheer supremacy in the match.

This victory highlighted another pivotal moment for Indian cricket and affirmed the strength of the team's bowling arsenal. Manav Suthar’s memorable debut offers a promising avenue for India as they prepare for future international events.
