Anthony Albanese Ties the Knot with Jodie Haydon in Historic Ceremony

Post by : Saif Al-Najjar

In a momentous occasion, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has become the first sitting prime minister to marry while in office. The wedding took place on Saturday, where he exchanged vows with his long-time partner, Jodie Haydon, in a private ceremony at The Lodge in Canberra, attended by close family and friends.

Engaged since last Valentine’s Day, details surrounding the wedding were closely guarded until the event itself. Expressing his happiness, Albanese shared, “We are absolutely delighted to share our love and commitment to spending our future lives together, in front of our family and closest friends.”

Jodie Haydon has played an active role in Albanese’s public endeavors, being present during his election campaign in 2022 and his party's significant win in May. For the wedding, Haydon donned a dress by Sydney label “Romance Was Born,” while Albanese chose a suit by MJ Bale. Personal touches included Haydon’s young niece, Ella, as the flower girl, and their dog, Toto, serving as the ring bearer.

Guests savored beer from Willie the Boatman, a local Sydney brewery. The couple made their aisle entrance to Stevie Wonder’s “Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I’m Yours)” and shared their inaugural dance to Frank Sinatra’s iconic, “The Way You Look Tonight.”

The newlyweds intend to enjoy their honeymoon in Australia from Monday to Friday next week, funded privately. This celebration reflects their preference for a serene, family-centered event. Albanese’s wedding has drawn nationwide attention, marking a rare intersection of personal joy and political duty.
