The Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, examined a range of innovative mobility solutions presented by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), aimed at enhancing transport efficiency and sustainability across the emirate.
During the review, RTA's Mattar Al Tayer provided insights on several ambitious projects: a rapid intervention vehicle, a state-of-the-art bus station, and modern parking for soft mobility options.
These initiatives embody the vision of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, aspiring to position Dubai as a forerunner in embracing cutting-edge transport technologies. Sheikh Hamdan stressed that Dubai is revolutionizing urban mobility through advanced solutions anchored in sustainable practices, contributing to improved living standards.
Rapid Intervention Vehicle
A notable feature includes an advanced rapid intervention vehicle equipped to swiftly tackle emergencies like heavy rain and water buildup.
This vehicle can swiftly pump out 60,000 litres of water per minute, outperforming ten standard pumps. It operates in water depths of up to 1.8 meters, cutting down response times by over 75%.
Fitted with modern technology, including multiple pumping systems, a rescue boat, a thermal drone, a backup generator, and a lighting tower, it assures prompt and effective emergency management while ensuring smooth traffic flow.
Smart Bus Station
Sheikh Hamdan also inspected a nearly complete smart bus station on Sheikh Zayed Road, adjacent to Mall of the Emirates, poised to open soon.
This facility will provide a fully digitized, paperless experience including integration with nol cards and the S’hail app. It boasts solar panels, AI-driven cameras for crowd management, and sensors for air quality monitoring.
Adhering to LEED Platinum standards, this station ensures a safe, eco-friendly, and comfortable environment for commuters.
Soft Mobility Parking Solutions
The RTA's modern parking solutions cater to bicycles and electric scooters, featuring shaded zones, charging stations, and smart surveillance.
These initiatives promote eco-friendly transit options and support first and last-mile connectivity, reflecting global best practices at key transport hubs and popular spots.
Future Implementation Plan
As cycling continues to gain traction in Dubai, with a projected 57.6 million trips in 2025, a phased rollout will launch pilot projects in five locations starting July 2026, concluding full implementation by 2028.
Leadership’s Commitment
This visit illustrates the leadership's dedication to overseeing project advancement and ensuring on-time completion. These efforts are pivotal in enhancing Dubai's stature as a global leader in smart mobility, innovation, and sustainable urban growth.
