Sri Lanka wrapped up a dominant win over Bangladesh by an innings and 78 runs, taking just 28 minutes on the fourth morning to claim the last four wickets. This victory marked Sri Lanka's ninth innings win against Bangladesh and secured them a 1-0 series victory, along with valuable points in the World Test Championship.

Prabath Jayasuriya played a key role, taking 5 wickets for 56 runs, his 12th five-wicket haul in Test cricket. He was well supported by wicketkeeper Kusal Mendis, who was back on the field after sitting out the previous day with a sore shoulder. Jayasuriya made quick work of the Bangladesh batters, dismissing Litton Das early in the day, followed by Nayeem Hasan, who was stumped. Jayasuriya completed his five-wicket haul with a catch off Taijul Islam's shot, and Tharindu Ratnayake took the final wicket of Ebadot Hossain, leaving Bangladesh all out after just 34 balls in the morning.

Jayasuriya’s performance was his best against Bangladesh and a strong comeback after a quiet first innings. Overall, nine wickets fell to spin in the match, with Jayasuriya, Tharindu, and Dhananjaya de Silva sharing the spoils.

Bangladesh struggled in the first innings with both batting and bowling, which allowed Sri Lanka to take full control of the game. Despite the loss, Pathum Nissanka was named Player of the Match for his impressive 158 runs off 254 balls, and he also earned Player of the Series for his 187 runs in the first Test.
