Minister of Transport and Logistic Services Saleh Al-Jasser announced that Saudi Arabia will host the second edition of the UN Global Supply Chain Forum (GSCF) in November 2026. The event will see participation from the United Nations and the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani). The announcement was made during the 16th session of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development in Geneva, Switzerland.
Al-Jasser welcomed all participating countries, noting that hosting the forum demonstrates the Kingdom’s leadership in supporting international trade and strengthening cooperation and logistical connectivity among nations. He emphasized that the forum aligns with Saudi Vision 2030 and its aim to position the Kingdom as a global logistics hub connecting three continents.
The Minister highlighted Saudi Arabia’s strategic location between Asia, Europe, and Africa, which makes the Kingdom a key transit point for over 13% of global trade flows. He noted that Saudi ports are recognized for their operational efficiency and are part of one of the fastest-growing port systems worldwide.
Al-Jasser emphasized that Saudi Arabia’s prominence in global supply chains is not only due to its geographic location but also its investments in ports, airports, land crossings, and digital infrastructure. These initiatives have helped the Kingdom enhance trade operations and position itself as a reliable partner in international logistics.
The Minister also highlighted Saudi Arabia’s efforts in leading green-transition initiatives within its logistics sector. These sustainable strategies reinforce the Kingdom’s role in shaping a future global trade system that is efficient, resilient, and environmentally responsible.
Al-Jasser expressed hope for active participation by member states at the forum. He stated that international collaboration at the GSCF would contribute to shaping the future of global trade, with Saudi Arabia playing a central role in guiding discussions and initiatives aimed at improving worldwide supply chain systems.
The hosting of the UN Global Supply Chain Forum reflects Saudi Arabia’s commitment to Vision 2030, which prioritizes economic diversification, investment in infrastructure, and strategic partnerships. By fostering global dialogue on logistics, the Kingdom aims to cement its status as a pivotal trade hub bridging multiple continents.
Saudi Arabia’s ports and logistics systems have gained recognition for their efficiency, capacity, and innovation. Participation in the UN forum will provide an opportunity to showcase the Kingdom’s achievements and share best practices with international partners, further strengthening its global trade influence.
