Kundasang Sees 3.4 Magnitude Earthquake, No Damage Reported

An earthquake registering 3.4 on the Richter scale struck Kundasang in Sabah early this morning, with light tremors felt in nearby regions. The earthquake was reported at approximately 3:02am by the Malaysian Meteorological Department.

The quake's epicenter was located about 8 kilometers northwest of Ranau, occurring at a depth of roughly 10 kilometers. Officials noted that while the tremors were weak, residents in surrounding locales were able to feel them.

Thus far, authorities have confirmed that there have been no reports of property damage or injuries. Monitoring crews have evaluated conditions in both Kundasang and Ranau, and everything appears stable.

Rantey Fred of the local fire and rescue department indicated that there have been no emergency calls linked to the tremor. Authorities are maintaining vigilance as a precautionary measure.

Residents who felt the tremors are encouraged to communicate their experiences via official channels to help in monitoring and data collection. This feedback is crucial for understanding the quake's impact better.

Community members are advised to stay calm and adhere to safety protocols during such occurrences, such as moving to open areas if they feel tremors and avoiding panic.
