The General Administration of Customs in Kuwait has successfully prevented an attempt to smuggle cigarettes through the Nuwaiseeb Border Crossing. The operation was carried out by customs officers as part of their ongoing field inspection and customs monitoring efforts.
During a detailed inspection of a vehicle passing through the border crossing, customs officers found a large quantity of cigarettes concealed inside specially designed hidden compartments. The discovery highlighted the effectiveness of routine inspections carried out at the border.
Cigarettes Hidden in Secret Compartments
According to the General Administration of Customs, officers recovered 43 cartons and 8 packs of cigarettes that had been carefully hidden inside the vehicle. The cigarettes were concealed within specially prepared spaces inside the fuel tank (petrol tank) and the gear shifter console (gear lever cover).
The inspection also confirmed that the vehicle had been specially modified to create concealed compartments for smuggling, indicating that it had been prepared specifically for transporting the prohibited items.

Suspect Referred for Legal Action
Following the seizure, customs authorities completed the required legal procedures. An official seizure report was prepared, and both the suspect and the confiscated cigarettes were referred to the General Department of Criminal Investigations to continue the necessary legal proceedings.
The General Administration of Customs stated that the case has been handed over to the relevant authorities for further action in accordance with the applicable legal procedures.
