During the recent CIS Heads of Government Council in Ashgabat, Adylbek Kasymaliev, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, emphasized the need for robust economic and regional collaboration. This significant gathering saw leaders and high-ranking officials from CIS nations convene to deliberate on matters of trade, transport, and regional partnerships.
Kasymaliev highlighted the CIS's vital role over the last 35 years as a platform for enhancing cooperation across various sectors. He pointed out that the organization remains instrumental in fostering economic partnerships, improving transport networks, encouraging technological collaboration, and supporting humanitarian projects among its member states.
The Kyrgyz PM noted that economic ties within the CIS have seen marked improvement, revealing that in 2025, Kyrgyzstan's trade with CIS countries surpassed 7 billion dollars—an increase of over nine percent from the previous year, underscoring heightened regional economic integration.
He urged member nations to improve trade conditions, reduce bureaucratic hurdles, and establish a more consistent business atmosphere. Moreover, he called for enhanced industrial cooperation and the establishment of regional value chains to further facilitate digital commerce.
A key initiative mentioned was the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway project, deemed crucial for bolstering trade and transport links in the area. Kasymaliev asserted that exploring alternative transit routes and coordinated logistics is essential in this shifting global geopolitical landscape.
Kasymaliev also addressed the importance of environmental partnerships, acknowledging joint efforts in rehabilitating regions impacted by uranium mining. He appreciated the contributions of partner nations to environmental safety and sustainable development initiatives in the region.
He extended invitations to CIS nations for prominent international events that Kyrgyzstan will host this year, including the 40th International Issyk-Kul Forum and the World Nomad Games. The summit concluded with a ceremonial signing of several cooperative agreements and official documents among the participating states.
