Severe Burns Result from LPG Explosion in Alor Gajah Home

Post by : Shakul

A 29-year-old man suffered extensive injuries, with burns covering approximately 50 percent of his body, following an alleged liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) explosion in Taman Baiduri, Kuala Ina, Alor Gajah, on Wednesday morning.

The incident is thought to be a result of a gas leak, allowing LPG to gather inside the residence, which then ignited and caused a significant explosion in the kitchen area.

As reported by the Melaka Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), emergency services were alerted at around 10:26 AM, prompting a response team from the Alor Gajah Fire and Rescue Station to be dispatched.

When firefighters reached the location, they found the tenant with severe injuries from the explosion. The Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) promptly administered first aid and subsequently transferred the victim to the Ministry of Health (MOH) team for further treatment.

The injured individual was then taken to Tampin Hospital due to the seriousness of his condition.

Reports indicate the man had recently returned from Pahang and had noticed a potential gas leak in the house. An explosion ensued while he was inspecting the LPG cylinder.

The explosion resulted in considerable damage to the property, affecting the roof, windows, doors, ceiling, and electrical systems.

Fire and rescue teams have confirmed that safety inspections are currently in progress to prevent any future gas leaks. Authorities are also investigating to establish the cause of the explosion.

Initial assessments indicate that the blast likely occurred due to the build-up of LPG within the home, though further investigations are being carried out to consider all potential factors.
