52-Year-Old From Badger Faces Murder Charge in Newfoundland

Post by : Shweta

In Newfoundland and Labrador, authorities have arrested a 52-year-old man on charges of first-degree murder connected to the death of a woman in Grand Falls-Windsor.

The individual, Ivan Loder of Badger, participated in his court appearance virtually from Grand Falls-Windsor and is currently in custody, awaiting further legal proceedings.

Police reported that they responded to a call for help at a residence in the Crescent Heights area at approximately 4:45 a.m. on April 10, 2026. When they arrived, emergency personnel discovered the deceased woman inside the home. Investigations revealed prior acquaintance between the victim and Loder.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police are actively probing the case, collaborating with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to ascertain the cause of death and gather relevant evidence.

Earlier, law enforcement issued a public notice advising residents to stay away from the vicinity while they managed the situation; this advisory was lifted after the area was declared safe.

This incident follows another tragic event in the same area earlier in the week involving a shooting that resulted in one fatality and another individual hospitalized. Authorities have confirmed that the two cases are unrelated and will be examined independently.

Additional information regarding the victim remains undisclosed as the investigation proceeds, with police diligently working to uncover the circumstances surrounding this incident.
