Aiden Markram played brilliantly for South Africa on Friday (June 13) in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 final against Australia. He scored an unbeaten 102 runs, helping South Africa close the day on a strong note. Markram faced 159 balls and hit 11 fours. He has shared a 143-run partnership with Temba Bavuma, who scored 65 runs.

Markram reached his century in the 55th over by hitting Josh Hazlewood for a four. This achievement became even more special when a tweet from Virat Kohli from 2018 went viral. In his tweet, Kohli had praised Markram, calling him a "delight to watch."

Markram's century came after he had a duck in the first innings. He stayed calm and steady, adding 61 runs with Wiaan Mulder (27 runs). Together, they kept Australia’s bowlers at bay. Markram also made history by becoming the first South African to score a century in an ICC final, a rare achievement. He joined cricket legends like Clive Lloyd and Viv Richards as one of the few to score a century in a Lord's final.

This century also placed him among the best in WTC finals, with Steve Smith and Travis Head also achieving this milestone. As South Africa needs 69 more runs to win, Markram will look to continue his great form and help his team secure a historic victory.
