Masters Historic Racing at Abu Dhabi F1 Grand Prix 2025

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

For the first time ever, Masters Historic Racing will be part of the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix weekend, bringing a special grid of classic 3-litre era cars to the final race of the season. As an official support race, fans will get a rare opportunity to watch these legendary machines compete again on one of the world’s most famous tracks.

The event will showcase cars from the well-known 1966–1985 period, with the Masters Racing Legends grid presenting a true celebration of motorsport history. The lineup includes ground-effect cars, DFV-powered models and some of the most iconic designs in Formula 1, giving fans a real look back at the golden age of racing technology. The grid will feature famous names such as former F1 winner Thierry Boutsen, Le Mans podium finisher Jann Mardenborough, French commentator Julien Febreau, ELMS champion Oliver James Webb and WEC champion Stuart Hall.

Throughout the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix weekend, drivers will take part in free practice and qualifying sessions before competing in two races under the bright Yas Marina lights. Fans can watch these historic cars in action during practice on Friday, 5 December, followed by qualifying and races on 6 and 7 December. The excitement will continue until the Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix takes over the main grid. These historic races add a unique layer of energy and motorsport heritage, making the weekend even more memorable for all racing enthusiasts.
