The match began with a balanced tone, yet the Czech Republic showed early promise, aiming for a much-needed win to keep their chances alive. Denis Visinsky almost converted a notable opportunity but missed the target from inside the box.
Mexico struggled initially, failing to create significant chances until late in the first half when defender Israel Reyes attempted an overhead kick that went wide.
However, a pivotal transformation occurred after halftime. In the 55th minute, Luis Romo intercepted a pass and delivered a precise assist to Mateo Chavez. Chavez skillfully eluded a defender and shot past goalkeeper Matej Kovar to take the lead at 1-0.
Just six minutes later, Julian Quinones doubled Mexico's lead, having assisted from 17-year-old Gilberto Mora's brilliant run and pass. After Jorge Sanchez’s effort, Quinones capitalized to net his second goal of the tournament.
The atmosphere at Azteca Stadium escalated with the introduction of veteran goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa, who made his 154th international appearance, receiving warm applause from the fans.
Deep into stoppage time, Mexico sealed their dominant performance with Alvaro Fidalgo scoring from outside the penalty area, rocketing the ball into the top corner for a final score of 3-0.
With this victory, Mexico finishes the group play unbeaten and will face a third-placed team from Group C, E, F, H, or I for their knockout match, set to occur in Mexico City on June 30.
