The Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen has announced large-scale military operations against Houthi forces in Yemen. According to coalition spokesperson Major General Turki Al-Maliki, 136 military targets were destroyed in areas under Houthi control. The announcement was reported by Arab News on October 10, 2026, following operations launched on Friday. The coalition said the operations targeted military capabilities, including the group's ballistic missile network.
Al-Maliki said coalition forces were working to dismantle the Houthi ballistic missile network. He also reported the destruction of three rocket launch platforms that, according to the coalition, were being used to threaten regional security. The spokesperson shared footage of the operations on social media, although the full extent of the reported damage was not independently established in the supplied report.

The operations come amid increased fighting along Yemen's western Red Sea coast and near the strategically important Bab Al-Mandab Strait. The waterway connects the Red Sea with the Gulf of Aden and is a major route for international commercial shipping. Any prolonged disruption in the area could affect maritime traffic, regional trade and shipping security.
Arab News, citing military sources reported by Al Arabiya, said Yemeni government forces had taken control of Bab Al-Mandab and Mayun Island after clearing the area. Coalition footage also reportedly showed air support for government forces and operations against Houthi fighters in the region. These battlefield developments could affect control of strategic coastal positions, although the situation requires further independent confirmation.
Saudi Arabia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Abdulaziz Alwasil, told an emergency Security Council meeting that the Kingdom would not allow Yemen to become a base for threats against Saudi territory or international shipping. He reaffirmed Saudi Arabia's stated right to protect its sovereignty and citizens and called for the implementation of relevant UN Security Council resolutions, including the arms embargo on the Houthis. He also said Riyadh remained committed to a political settlement in Yemen.
The report also described recent attacks affecting Riyadh and other Saudi locations, including incidents involving King Khalid International Airport. Saudi officials said the incidents caused casualties, injuries, property damage and flight disruptions. The report identified several locations allegedly targeted in recent weeks, including Abha, Khamis Mushayt, Jazan and Najran. These claims should be attributed to the relevant Saudi authorities until independently verified.
Saudi Arabia has reiterated its support for Yemen's internationally recognised government and efforts to restore state authority. According to Alwasil, Saudi economic and development assistance to Yemen exceeded $12.6 billion between 2012 and 2026, alongside more than $4.5 billion in humanitarian assistance. The latest operations highlight growing concerns about regional security and Red Sea shipping, while Saudi Arabia says it continues to support a political solution that preserves Yemen's sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity.
