A tragic motorcycle accident in Scarborough has resulted in the death of a 21-year-old rider, prompting ongoing investigations by the Toronto Police Service. The collision occurred on Sunday afternoon at approximately 3:05 p.m. at the intersection of Danforth Avenue and Byng Avenue.

According to the police report, the incident involved a motorcycle and a Toyota Highlander SUV. The SUV was reportedly heading east on Danforth Avenue when it attempted to turn left into a plaza, colliding with a motorcycle traveling west from the opposite direction.

Emergency responders arrived promptly at the scene. The motorcyclist sustained life-threatening injuries and was rushed to the hospital, where unfortunately he was later declared dead. The identity of the victim has yet to be revealed.

Authorities confirmed that the SUV driver remained on-site and is fully cooperating with the investigation. As of now, no charges have been filed, and it is considered too early to ascertain the precise cause of the accident.

Investigators are also examining whether external factors, such as weather and road conditions, may have played a role in the crash. However, no conclusions have been reached at this time.

In the aftermath of the incident, police closed a stretch of Danforth Avenue between Byng Avenue and Robinson Avenue to facilitate the investigation and evidence collection. Traffic Services officers are pursuing ongoing inquiries and are requesting assistance from the public.

Authorities are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or possesses dashcam or surveillance footage from the vicinity to come forward. This information could be pivotal in piecing together the circumstances of the crash.

The incident has reignited discussions about road safety, particularly for motorcyclists, who face heightened risks during collisions. Officials continue to emphasize the importance of vigilance and adherence to traffic regulations to avert future tragedies.

The investigation is ongoing, and further updates will be provided as new information emerges.
