The National Library and Archives (NLA) has launched its newest endeavor, “Al Majlis,” a vibrant cultural and historical platform intended to be operational during significant events and national celebrations. This initiative offers an interactive venue for knowledge sharing, reinforcing the NLA’s dedication to preserving the UAE’s extensive heritage and ensuring access to historical documentation through innovative methodologies.
To bolster its cultural influence, the NLA aims to take a proactive stance by providing specialized venues for the public and interested organizations to delve into its advanced archival, documentation, and historical research capabilities. “Al Majlis” strengthens the institution’s pivotal role in promoting knowledge and safeguarding the legacy of Emirati culture.
The launch event of “Al Majlis” was held in collaboration with the Emirates International Endurance Village during the Union Day Cup festivities. The platform's debut lecture, titled “Purebred Arabian Horses in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi,” was delivered by distinguished researcher Mohammed Ali Al Matrooshi. An expert in equine history, Al Matrooshi provided fascinating insights into the bloodlines of Arabian horses in Abu Dhabi, referencing preserved texts that illuminate the Arab world’s enduring passion for horses and their meticulous lineage documentation.
The lecture highlighted the crucial role of Arabian horses in UAE culture and leadership, showcasing their significance as more than mere symbols of valor—they are vital elements of the Emirati cultural identity. Historically, these horses have played an influential role in social and economic life, treasured through the ages.
With “Al Majlis,” the NLA is committed to creating innovative platforms that promote collaboration with national organizations and facilitate knowledge-driven projects centered on heritage conservation and advanced technologies. This vision aligns with the UAE’s goals for sustainable progress and cultural prominence.
The platform seeks to enrich national identity and raise awareness regarding the importance of safeguarding the UAE’s collective memory. It will present specialized programs and engaging content that connect current and future generations to the nation’s cultural roots.
In conclusion, the National Library and Archives envisions “Al Majlis” as a pivotal forum for enhancing knowledge and heritage appreciation, fostering strategic collaborations, and aligning with the UAE’s aspirations for excellence and global leadership.
