In a decisive move against cross-border drug trafficking, authorities seized a significant quantity of heroin close to the India–Myanmar border in Manipur and apprehended two individuals connected to an international drug syndicate.
This operation was initiated following precise intelligence, leading a joint enforcement team to stop a vehicle in a border region. Upon searching the vehicle, they discovered 7.31 kilograms of heroin cleverly hidden within 638 plastic soap containers to avoid detection.
The street value of the confiscated drugs is estimated to be around ₹15 crore in the global illegal market. Initial investigations suggest that the heroin was sourced from the Haichin area in Myanmar, transported through dense forest paths in Manipur to circumvent law enforcement.
The two detainees, hailing from the Churachandpur district, allegedly exploited remote trails and lesser-known routes to elude standard security checks. Authorities indicate that enhanced vigilance on established trafficking routes has compelled smugglers to adopt riskier, secluded pathways.
Security forces have ramped up surveillance in border regions and reiterated their dedication to combating drug trafficking networks that operate across borders.
