H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, has appointed Hesham Mohammed Abdulrahim Al Olama as the CEO of the Media Development Sector at the Dubai Media Council through Executive Council Resolution No. (92) of 2025.

Additionally, Resolution No. (93) of 2025 saw Rashid Humaid Saeed Al Marri transitioning from the Government of Dubai Media Office to take up the role of CEO of the Media Regulation Sector at the Dubai Media Council. Both roles commenced on 1st November 2025 and will be recorded in the Government’s Official Gazette.

Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council, conveyed her gratitude to H.H. Sheikh Hamdan for entrusting these significant positions to two highly accomplished Emirati professionals. She emphasized that their expertise and capabilities position them well to lead vital sectors of the council effectively.

Al Marri stated that these appointments underscore the leadership’s dedication to establishing a cohesive framework promoting the growth and evolution of Dubai’s media sector. This initiative aligns with the council’s mission, under the guidance of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to uplift the media industry while cultivating national talent.

The Dubai Media Council, set up under Decree No. (66) of 2024, serves as the official body overseeing media undertakings in Dubai, ensuring adherence to global standards while adapting to modern technologies and platforms to foster a supportive regulatory atmosphere conducive to innovation and creativity.

The newly appointed CEOs are set to significantly contribute to positioning Dubai as a center for media creativity and premium content. Their roles encompass enhancing local media production, encouraging international collaborations, and championing initiatives aimed at empowering youth and Emirati talent in the media sector's future.

The council's focus spans various strategic domains aimed at fortifying the sector. This includes fostering development via executive initiatives, establishing transparent regulatory frameworks, and prioritizing human capital through the identification and nurturing of skilled professionals. The intent is to cultivate a new generation of creative Emirati media practitioners capable of generating content that meets global benchmarks.

These leadership appointments further highlight Dubai’s aspiration to nourish a vibrant media ecosystem where local and international entities can collaborate seamlessly. By empowering leaders such as Hesham Al Olama and Rashid Al Marri, the council aims to sustain growth, elevate media standards, and fuel sector innovation.

The Dubai Media Council is devoted to initiatives that intertwine technology, creativity, and talent development, ensuring the Emirate retains its position as a key player in the regional and global media landscape.

With these pivotal appointments, Dubai fortifies its vision of becoming a global media hub, utilizing robust leadership, talented Emirati professionals, and international collaborations to enhance the competitiveness and quality of its media sector.
